Day Spring Farm

Artisan Sheep Milk Cheeses and Fiber Arts
ABOUT US

Day Spring Farm is a small, multi-use operation located in Chester County, Pennsylvania.  We produce artisan sheep milk cheeses from our small herd of East Friesian ewes, various meats from animals raised free and out doors, and unique wool crafts.  We also hold periodic workshops for those interested in learning the skills of working with wool and cheese making.

Acquired by the Inslee family in 1977 for homesteading purposes, Day Spring Farm began to evolve into a farming business in 2012 and is currently run by mother (Frances) and daughter (Julia).  Most important to us are: happy animals, sharing knowledge, and providing wholesome food to our neighbors.

Strange Spring

It has certainly been a strange spring, as if the weather reflects the uncertainty of the moment.  Just two days ago, May 9th, a frigid wind whipped through the trees for the majority of the day and the cold of the night froze the water troughs and blackened the potato plants.  The spring hardy vegetables have been stunted time and time again over the last couple of months.  March was unseasonably warm and then a surprisingly cold April and May set in.  Morning and evening milkings have left the hands pained and the toes numb.  We trudge on though and relish the sunshine and the vibrantly green leaves and grass--signs that a true spring and warmth and hope are eminent.
